OUR HISTORYThe Ugly Otter lives with my Beautiful Wife, and one tame cat, in the city of Tucson, Arizona. We have studied and collected Indian Art, Sterling Silver Jewelry, and Jewelry Making for a good portion of our life. We are "retired" from our previous employment, and are doing this Web Site to keep us busy, have a purposeful routine in life, and we enjoy the great customers we have. (There may be one or two that we don't enjoy as much as the others, but, oh well) And, the extra income provides some incentive, we must admit. We have specialized in, and traded in, sterling silver jewelry for many years. We do not claim to be experts in this or any other field, but this is where our interests have been for a long time. The Ugly Otters travel extensively collecting the things shown on these web pages. We frequent the Navajo, Zuni, and Acoma Reservations about once each month, depending on need. We also visit other Reservations frequently, and know some of the artists who make these items, and many of the things shown on these pages are purchased directly from those makers.
Recently, we have decided to diversify our work load, so we have turned
the order-taking, shipping, and web page up-dating over to our daughter (Cathy)
and son-in-law (Dan) who live in Elko, NV. They are younger (naturally),
more energetic, and eager to help the web site grow and prosper. The
Ugly Otter (and his Beautiful Wife) will continue to buy the jewelry, and
scout for more old pawn items which you see on this web site. The will
keep all four of us busy, and, hopefully, improve the Ugly Otter Web Site
with a wider choice of items. Also, the Ugly Otter has become somewhat
lazy and does not want to work as hard as he did once upon a
time. |
